Growing appreciation for those who built Singapore Growing appreciation for those who built Singapore 🇸🇬 As part of our Old and New Singapore theme, our children continued exploring the stories of the people who helped shape Singapore, learning about the Samsui women and their contribution to building our city.🪣 Before stepping into the experience themselves, the children explored photographs and a presentation showing how the Samsui women dressed, the work they carried out and the physically demanding conditions they faced each day.☀️ Then, it was time to bring their learning to life. The children climbed, carried buckets, balanced carefully across planks and transported building materials, before using them to build their own homes. 🧱🏠 By moving from seeing and learning to doing and experiencing, the children could begin to understand the strength, resilience and determination behind the photographs they had seen. Through experiences like these, we hope to nurture a deeper appreciation for Singapore’s history and the people whose hard work helped shape the the Singapore they call home today. ❤️🇸🇬 Discover more about learning at Heartfield on our website. Capable children start with being given roles and Capable children start with being given roles and responsibilities. 🙋🏻‍♀️ Giving children responsibility is one of the ways we help them discover just how capable they are. 🚀 Each week, children take turns in different classroom roles, giving everyone the opportunity to lead amongst their peers, contribute to the class and experience what it means to have others counting on them. And leadership isn’t only about taking charge. It’s also about learning to listen, cooperate, take turns and respect the ideas of others. 🤝 Through these small, everyday responsibilities, children build confidence, independence and a growing sense of belonging, all within the safety of a familiar classroom environment. Hello Heartfielders, and welcome back to Term 4! 👋 Hello Heartfielders, and welcome back to Term 4! 👋🏼💙 We hope you had a wonderful break and are feeling refreshed for the term ahead. Term 4 is a special one, as our children bring together all they’ve learnt throughout the year, strengthen key skills and grow in confidence and independence as they prepare for their next stage of learning. 🌱 There’s plenty to look forward to too! We’ll be exploring fruits, vegetables and where our food comes from, before travelling a little further afield as we discover countries and cultures from around the world. 🌍🥕🍎 With Children’s Day and UN Day, it’s set to be a full and meaningful final term. What a full Term 3 it’s been! 🛝✏️ From the famili What a full Term 3 it’s been! 🛝✏️ From the familiar rhythms of our daily routines to diving into our ocean theme, celebrating National Day and heading out on beach excursions across our classes, there have been so many moments of learning, exploring and growing together. And in between it all, plenty of play, friendships, conversations, laughter and little everyday moments that make school life so special. 🌿 We’re so proud of how much our children have learnt and grown this term, and so grateful to our teachers for all the care and energy they bring to each day.
